THE SICK ROSE

The critical analysis of the poem:

A backward reading of the poem "THE SICK ROSE" by William Blake brings us a different picture than when we read it upright. This poem talks about a girl and her secret love story.
'Rose' here is the symbolism of a young girl, 'the invisible worm' symbolizes memories that never fade, and 'his dark secret love' talks about her lover who has not appeared as a person in this poem but has his role in her memories.
The secret love destroyed her life, the dark secret love of him makes her life miserable. It is one that happens to have the joy of deep love in her bed.

The storm that wails and brings melancholy flies in the night uncovers her memories of her dark love like a worm that digs the earth, which is invisible to us. The poet feels sad for the girl who is struck down in her woe past. The poet calls "art sick. " implying that to be she is sick mentally that is invisible.
